Mounted mast via hinge, found Inox in Asquith – supplier (Glen) at good prices for stainless bolts etc. Mounted chain plates and shrouds, mounted and painted transom engine mount, bought Torqueedo 801 motor $2k.

Will fit jib with self furler then mainsail lashing and anchor bracket. Then into the drink for a bath… and look for the leaks!

Spent over $1k on blocks and bibs and bobs, I hope this thing sails. Won’t be doing much for a couple of weeks with Easter and an enforced week off away from home. Never mind, should return full of vim and vigour to finish the rigging.

Got the sails back, must remember to wind the jib on CLOCKwise.

Back on the trailer

No pics at the moment, however Scotti is painted and back on the trailer, purchased $1k of bits from Whitworths so rigging is going full steam ahead.. hmm poor metaphor.

Finished undercoating, now to sand, silk purses and sows ears but can only try.

Holiday over – back to work

Finishing spars and rudder box, learning to read the instructions – thrice..

Spars – ripped from 4″ x 4″ hoop pine, tenon saw and spokehave to make the 2″ end which carries the Davey 4 tab mast band.

Ok so it is not happening quite as quick as I’d like. Read the instructions numerous times – eventually it must sink in.

Tiller work continuing, trying different gudgeons/pintles etc. Will post pics when Ship’s steward returns camera..

A few days off and it rains, so time to do some woodwork. Made the rudder box with a tiller to go on top. Curve is to clear the auxilary bracket.

The original jaws broke, didn’t feel like making a whole new gaff boom so am trying the following. Made jaws as per the plans from old oregon. Will use Bote-cote epoxy then cover in white topcoat. This gives me a chance to experiment with the product prior to attacking the hull.
